Punjab Minister for Information Technology Abdul Aleem Khan has said that IT sector would be given top most priority in the coming budget and revolutionary steps would be introduced to flourish environment of computer and IT in the society. He stated this while addressing the prize-distribution ceremony at Scholars College, here on Wednesday.
Abdul Aleem said that all over the world, private universities play an important role in extending education facilities, hence the Punjab government was also patronising such institutions serving in this field.
He appreciated the contribution of Scholars College in this regard and announced a grant of Rs 500,000 for strengthening IT Department and providing better computer education in the college.
He further said that unfortunately in the past none of the government paid due heed to the education sector, and for the first time in history Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi allocated Rs 50 billion for providing basic and missing facilities in schools and colleges.
Later, the minister inaugurated new IT lab of Scholars College. He also visited Language Lab and Library of the college and lauded the facilities available there.
