The provincial government is providing maximum funds for the treatment and rehabilitation of mentally handicapped persons so that they could become self-reliant, useful and active members of the society.
Punjab Minister Health Dr Tahir Ali Javed expressed these views while presiding over the executive committee meeting of Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH).
The minister maintained that more research facilities would be provided to the psychologists/young doctors and research centres would be established at public sector hospitals for research and treatment of mental and other diseases.
He asked the executive committee members that promotions of medical experts of PIMH should be linked up with their research work as well as publication of such research work in international reputed medical journals. He, however, assured that required funds for such activities would be provided by the government.
