Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leadership has demanded of President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) and Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to take immediate note of attack on the MQM's Gujranwala office by outlaws and take the culprits to task.
Addressing a news conference at Lahore Press Club, here on Friday Almas Haider Kazmi, in-charge Punjab advisory council of MQM, Qasim Baloch, member district government Lahore and Ali Hasnain, in-charge MQM Lahore, alleged that activists of a religious party are involved in attacking the party office at Gujranwala. 'MQM is getting an overwhelming response from the public and besides rural Sindh, it is also becoming popular in Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP and AJK. As it has emerged as a true representative party of the poor and the oppressed segments of society, people are whole-heartedly joining it', they said.
They further that the said religious party was afraid of the fast growing popularity of MQM and using ugly tactics against it. They said that attack on the MQM office in Judicial Colony, Gujranwala was the worst kind of dirty politics.
