Declining trend persisted in the open market on Saturday as the rupee shed four paisa for selling versus the dollar at 60.46 and it dropped by five paisa for selling at Rs 60.52 on rising demand for the greenback, dealers said.
The rupee fluctuated slightly during the day and it seems that the rupee-dollar parity rates might move both ways in the coming days, they said. The rupee gained 31 paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 76.70 and Rs 76.80 in modest business, moneychangers said.
In the world markets, the dollar improved versus the euro and it depicted slight changes versus the yen, they added.

According to the currency dealers, following surge in the dollar's demand value of the local currency went down on the weekend. The dollar resumed trading at Rs 60.44 and Rs 60.54 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. With the expansion of demand, the dollar moved up and closed at Rs 60.47 and Rs 60.57 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Friday's closing rates of Rs 60.35 and Rs 60.45, the dealers added.
However, the rupee closed higher against pound sterling after appreciation in its value. The pound's buying rate declined from overnight closing rate of Rs 112.75 to Rs 112.10 while selling rate moved down from Rs 112.95 to Rs 112.40, the dealers added.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.40 (buying) and Rs 60.50 (selling) against the last rate. It did not witness any change in evening session and closed at Rs 60.40 (buying) and Rs 60.50 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 113.25 (buying) and Rs 113.50 (selling) against the last rate. It did not witness any further fluctuation by the end of the evening session and closed at Rs 113.25 (buying) and Rs 113.50 (selling).
