01 Jun, 2006

Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that for the first time in the history of City Government, work is being carried out in three shifts with responsible officials present in every shift as a result of which a fast track development process has started.
"This has been done keeping the problems of Karachi citizens in view so that development projects are completed at the earliest", the City Nazim said during a visit to Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim on Tuesday night.
He pointed out that Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim is being constructed on the pattern of world's modern and beautiful parks. It is Pakistan's biggest park spread over 130 acres and City Government is carrying out its development at a fast pace.
Kamal said that from day one he had started initiating steps for providing various facilities to Karachiites.
The construction of a big and beautiful park like Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim in just six months and development of Beach park and coastal areas is a clear manifestation that Haq Parast leadership is working for fast development of Karachi.
"We have divided work on development projects in three shifts as against few hours spent in the past", he said and added that if fast development process had not been taken in hand, the reconstruction of Karachi would have become difficult and would have left far behind the world's major cities.
Still, he acknowledged, the citizens of Karachi are facing problems but it is just a temporary phase because whatever is being done, it is for citizens and their future generations.
He pointed out that roads constructed will need not to be dug up for the next 30-35 years. These will never get damaged because utilities underneath have been shifted and all such works will be completed in the next few months.
Mustafa Kamal said Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim will have modern facilities like Dophon Park, Mono Rail, Indoor games etc while steps are being taken to connect it with sea.
He said that Kothari Parade platform used to be in the sea at the time of its construction and now it is being extended and a similar beautiful platform will be constructed in the sea and connected with Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim.
