CDGK to set up cadet college

01 Jun, 2006

City District Government Karachi will establish Karachi's first cadet college on an area of 100 acres for which directive has been issued to allocate land near Northern Bypass. CDGK Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday directed the EDO Revenue to identify land for proposed college at the earliest.
Addressing the review meetings regarding the performance of education and health departments, the Nazim observed that there was no government Cadet College in Karachi as a result of which students there had to go far away and, therefore, that decision was taken.
The Nazim asked the EDOs Health and Education to display boards of City District Government at the entrances of all the buildings of CDGK for public knowledge. He called for the survey of dilapidated buildings of medical and educational institutions and said a report thereof be submitted at the earliest so that work on their repair and renovation could be undertaken.
He directed that before starting the construction of new buildings, it was imperative to first repair and renovate the old buildings. He added that all educational buildings should be checked and a report given within a week to ascertain as to which buildings needed repair.
The meeting was attended by the EDOs of Finance, Works and Services, Revenue, Education and Higher Education.
