Saudi envoy gives Rs 357 million cheque to minister for quake victims

Saudi ambassador Ali S. Awadh Asseri handed over cheque of over Rs 357 million to Social Welfare Minister Zobaida Jalal on behalf of Saudi Prince Ahmed Bin Sultan for earthquake affectees. The amount will be distributed among the earthquake affectees of 'Ashiana Center' being run by Ministry of Social Welfare.
Four Hundred and Fourteen cheques of Rs 86,403 each were handed over to Social Welfare Ministry for rehabilitation of earthquake affectees. Speaking on the occasion, Saudi ambassador said that the government of Pakistan has successfully completed the rehabilitation and reconstruction process of the earthquake affectees.
He said that the amount was donated by Prince Ahmad Bin Sultan Bin Abulaziz to the widows, orphans and handicapped affected by the earthquake. The ambassador said that Saudi government will provide full support to the Pakistan government for rehabilitating the affectees. He said that Saudi government will continue to support the affectees of NWFP and AJK till the completion of the rehabilitation process.
Zobaida Jalal thanked the Saudi ambassador on provision of aid for earthquake affectees. She said that people of Pakistan appreciate the co-operation extended by Saudi government as Saudi Arabia always helped Pakistan in severe disasters.
These cheques can be drawn from specific branches of National Bank of Pakistan upon presentation of computerised I.D cards or copies of form B with photos attested by the Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education.
