Maoists kill 12 Indian cops

At least 12 Indian policemen were killed on Thursday when suspected Maoist rebels triggered a powerful landmine in the eastern state of Jharkhand, police said. The attack, in the iron-ore hub of Kiriburu, killed the men as they were heading to defuse a bomb in a school building, Naveen Kumar Singh, a senior police officer, told Reuters.
