Budget termed people-friendly

Punjab Minister for Industries Muhammed Ajmal Cheema has termed the 2006-07 Federal budget as reflective of aspirations of the people, and said the government had won the hearts of the people by taking solid measures against price-hike.
"Announcement of 15 percent dearness allowance for the government servants is a good omen, which will provide relief to them," he said. In a statement here on Tuesday, he congratulated President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for presenting a balanced and peoples-friendly budget.
He said in the budget, relief had been given to the people of all walks of life, adding that a huge amount of Rs 415 billion had been allocated for development projects as a result of which a new era of development and prosperity would usher in all the four provinces.
The minister said that enhancement in the pension would help mitigate sufferings of senior citizens, whereas a minimum of Rs 1,000 increase in the salaries of private sector employees would lessen their hardships. He said the government, by allocating a big amount for the development of education and health sectors had proved that promotion of education was its top most priority.
