Ibad directs to cleanse drains ahead of rains

Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan on Wednesday directed the concerned officials to launch a campaign immediately, for cleaning of drains in the metropolis before the start of monsoon rains.
Presiding over a meeting at Governor House here, he directed concerned officials to immediately initiate a campaign for cleaning of drains before the forthcoming rainy season to drain out water through a "unified system" during rainfalls, said a statement issued here. Dr Ibad was of the view that poor sanitary conditions also create various health related problems among people.
He called upon all the concerned officials to take appropriate measures for removal of water during the rainfalls. The meeting was also attended by Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, Advisors to Sindh CM, M.A. Jaleel and Waseem Akhter, Sindh Chief Secretary, Fazal-ur-Rahman, Secretary Local Government, Ishaaq Leghari, City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Managing Director, KWSB, Brigadier Iftikhar Haider(Retd), Chief Controller, KBCA, Mumtaz-ur-Rehman and others.
Sindh Governor was informed that some health related problems are being faced by the people, living in different katchi abadies besides Lyari Expressway area.
He directed the concerned officials to warn the people living along water channels to take appropriate measures to cope the situation during rainfall.
