Steps to ensure cheap supply of pulses taken: Prime Minister visits utility store

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday assured that the government has taken adequate measures to ensure sufficient supply of pulses at reduced rates to the consumers through Utility Stores and in the open market.
He was talking to customers and newsmen after his surprise visit to a Utility Store here in G-9 sector where he went to personally check the supply and prices of the pulses, sugar and other basic commodities being provided to the people.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani and Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives Jehangir Khan Tareen were also present on this occasion.
Shaukat Aziz while talking to newsmen said the prices of essential items, including pulses, have been reduced and stabilised especially at the Utility Stores.
He said 560 such stores in the country have started the sale of pulses at the reduced rates and people were getting benefit from the measures of the government.
The Prime Minister was satisfied on the sale of pulses at the Utility Stores and added that there has been a good response from the public in this regard.
Shaukat Aziz was informed that daal channa is being sold at the rate of Rs 30 per kg, daal masoor at Rs 31 per kg, daal moong at Rs 53 per kg and daal mash Rs 58 per kg and there was no shortage of the stock at the Utility Stores.
The Prime Minister said that after the import of these pulses, their prices in the open market would also reduce.
