'Increasing inflation disappoints masses'

09 Jun, 2006

Former Finance Minister Dr Mubashir Hassan has said that inflation does not take place itself but it is brought by the rulers, saying that even the opposition members did not say about the price hike. In an interview with a private TV channel, he said that masses were very disappointed due to increasing price hike as compared to the people of India.
To a question, he said that taxes had to be raised and the expenditures of the public would also be raised. He further said that the Parliament members, except a few opposition members, who were no doubt very smart, but lack organising capacity, did not open their tongue against dearness.
He said that the people raised hue and cry but it did not produce any effect, adding that crimes were reflection of the fact that people had got fed up.
He said that as far as the political parties are concerned they were eagerly waiting for General Musharraf to patronise them and to include them in the government. The two major political parties too wanted this, he added.
To a query, he said that the religious parties had been co-operating with the government for past eight years. He said that the question arises why the masses did not take to streets. It is essential that there is consciousness in the masses that they have a share in the government.
