Five textile associations of Faisalabad have constituted a council of common interest named "All Faisalabad Textile Association", to launch struggle for highlighting and resolving of textile related problems completely ignored in the new Federal Budget.
In a meeting at Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) office here on Friday, chaired by Rana Arif Tauseef PTEA Chairman, Mian Shabbir Ahmed Chairman All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA), Chaudhry Abdul Haq Chairman All Pakistan Cotton Powerlooms Association (APCPA), Mirza Mohammad Shafiq Chairman All Pakistan Sizing Industry and Acting Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association decided to form a single platform and to launch joint struggle for seeking relief of common textile and export related issues.
The meeting decided that since Faisalabad was contributing 40 percent of total textile exports of the country and was biggest textile center of the country, employing huge number of workers, it was sheer apathy to ignore this important sector of the economy. It was further decided that joint efforts would be mounted to reduce the cost of production of Pakistani exportable goods to get level playing field for exporters in international market and to offset the adverse impact of hikes in electricity, gas, petroleum and bank credit.
The meeting decided to expand the canvas of the council and devise further line of action in the next meeting.
