Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has directed all the registration officers (ROs), appointed for preparation of fresh computerised electoral rolls, to impart necessary training about preparation of new electoral rolls.
Accordingly, in the first instance, all the DECs were imparted training on May 29 and 30 under the auspices of Federal Election Academy in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), says a press release.
As a part of this workshop, assistant election commissioners, who are also registration officers of the districts, are being trained in their respective provinces.
Assistant election commissioners of Sindh are scheduled to be trained at Karachi on June 10th followed by the training of assistant election commissioner of Balochistan in the next week at Quetta.
The registration officers will also impart training to the assistant registration officers, supervisors and enumerators of their respective area of jurisdiction.
In addition to this, Secretary Election Commission, Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad said that for the purpose of preparation of computerised electoral rolls, 144 registration officers, 2,240 assistant registration officers, 26,665 supervisors and 85,517 enumerators have been appointed throughout the country.
The assistant registration officers, supervisors and enumerators have mostly been drawn from the education department of provincial governments.
He further said that chief election commissioner has directed the provinces chief secretaries to issue necessary instructions to heads of education institutes not to transfer their staff, who have been appointed as assistant registration officers, supervisor and enumerators till the completion of the enumeration process to enable them to carry out work of national importance smoothly and without fear of transfer.
