A former speaker of National Assembly Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday celebrated his birthday in Adiyala prison. His family members and children joined him under special orders of Punjab government. Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani, brother of Yousaf, told this correspondent that his elder brother was neither unhappy nor disturbed due to his detention.
He clearly stated that he would never do any bargaining with the present regime and he would prefer to stay in barracks to extending his co-operation towards the dictators. He said that he had received so many offers from the rulers but he turned down because he had no intention to accept his political death. Yousaf demanded return of his computer, which contains matter of his three books on national politics.
Dr Javed Siddiqui, MPA, has moved a motion against the highhandedness of jail officials and raid on the cell of Yousaf Raza. Upon it Punjab Law Minister Basharat Ali assured of an inquiry into the incident besides allowing the family to join him on the birthday in the prison.
