The Karachi Port handled 100,528 tonnes of cargo including 89,935 tonnes import, 10,593 tonnes export cargo and 2,044 containers during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The cargo comprised of 50,889 tonnes dry cargo including 34,458 tonnes general cargo; 4,335 tonnes sugar; 12,096 tonnes fertiliser and 49,639 tonnes oil/Liquid cargo. Six ships namely Oel Aishwarya, Ltc Calvin P. Titus, Maersk Cloud, Free Fighter, Fiona and MT Lalazar sailed out to sea during the report period.
Six vessels viz Thor Captain, Chang Ping, Sea Rose, Kardaran Star, Sunniva and Iran Shahryar are currently at the berths.
Five ships namely Sea Rose, Clementine, Global Union, Golden Express and Iran Shahryar expected to sail on Saturday, while two vessels viz Kardaran Star and Thor Captain are expected to sail on Sunday.
One ship Hanjin Busan due to arrive on Saturday, while six ships namely MT Shalamar, Stolt Allaiance, Rising One, Global Prince, Bunga Kenari and Ever Guide are due to arrive on Sunday. One ship Persepolis is due to arrive on Monday.
The cargo comprised of 42,095 tonnes diesel oil; 8,000 tonnes edible oil; 256 tonnes sugar and 21,046 tonnes containerised cargo.
Four ships namely CV Al-Mariyah, CV Saudi Tabuk, CV Msc Maya and MV Jaipur sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while three more ships namely CV Oel Aishwarya, MT Sita Camilla and MT Samho Heron are expected to sail on Saturday.
A total of five vessels viz Beirut, Msc Nederland, Oel Aishwarya, Chemroad Mega and Al-Maqwa are currently at the outer anchorage.
Four ships namely CV Oel Aishwarya, CV Merker Sea, MT Chemroad Mega and MV Beirut due to take berths on Saturday.
Four vessels viz CV Msc Nederland, MT Mastery, MT Vema Ocean and MV Samho Jewellery with containers, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil due to arrive on Saturday, while another four ships namely CV Indonesia Star, CV Msc Hailey, MV Abdul and MV Liberty Eagle with containers, sugar and wheat are due to arrive on Sunday.
A total cargo volume of 587,629 tonnes comprising 461,013 tonnes import and 126,616 tonnes export cargo was handled during last week ending on Friday, 9th June 2006.
The cargo comprised of 62,760 tonnes furnace oil; 41,974 tonnes diesel oil; 51,753 tonnes edible oil; 29,916 tonnes sugar; 28,988 tonnes chemicals; 22,000 tonnes seeds; 106,356 tonnes iron ore and 244,182 tonnes containerised cargo.
A total of twenty-two ships took berths to load/off load the above cargo, while twenty-five vessels sailed out to sea during the reporting week ending on Friday, 9th June 2006.
