As many as 319 watercourses are being brick lined at a cost of Rs 340 million under watercourses reforms programme in the district. District Officer Water Management, Malik Saif-ur-Rehman, said this while briefing the Project Director of the national irrigation reform programme, Dr Pervez Ahmed, during his visit to district.
Malik Saif said that the work on this project would be completed by June 30, positively. Meanwhile, Project Director, Dr Pervez Ahmed, urged the officers of concerned departments and landholders of the district to make the programme a success. He said that the mega project would prevent seepage of precious water in canals and watercourses and help to achieve the national objective of a green revolution and food autarky.
