An under trial prisoner accused in police custody was shot dead by his rival in Tehsil Court premises, Chiniot, here on Monday. According to details, when a police party was carrying a handcuffed accused, Jehangir Ali, to present him in a court, suddenly, his rival Faiz Muhammad appeared before and opened fire indiscriminate to take revenge of murder of his relative.
Jehangir died on the spot, while the assailant was taken into custody immediately along with his pistol. Chiniot police have registered a murder case.
