Rs 23.9 million worth projects approved

Punjab Minister for Law, Local Government and Public Prosecution, Muhammad Basharat Raja has said that approval has been granted for 24 new developmental projects, costing Rs 23.9 million to be executed under Tameer-e-Punjab Programme.
He said in a meeting of Provincial Steering Committee held under his chairmanship here on Monday that as many as 257 projects initiated on the recommendations of elected women and minority assembly members had been completed under Tameer-e-Punjab programme with a cost of Rs 50.45 million during current fiscal year.
The minister directed the authorities of Local Government Department that utility of these projects for the masses should be kept in view and only those projects should be presented for approval which come up to the required standards.
He said that all funds of Tameer-e-Punjab Programme should be spent through Local Government Department; however, if any member wants their execution through any agency other than Local Government Department he should acquire formal approval so that proper utilisation of funds could be ensured.
