A deep resentment was found among the shopkeepers and traders over the orders to close their businesses at dusk. Various markets of the city were closed in accordance with the new schedule of 8pm on Monday, and at many places, police mobiles were present to ensure the closure accordingly.
Many people told this scribe that the closure of markets at dusk has in now way helped to improve the electricity supply situations and in all the areas of the city power breakdowns still persists.
The move to close markets and shops by 8pm has been widely criticised by opposition parties who welcomed the opportunity to flay the provincial coalition government.
Many Karachiites are of opinion that the timings for shops should be extended to at least 9.30pm and said that this would help the shopkeepers to overcome their economic difficulties.
