Head of ruling All Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference Sardar Muhammad Abdul Qayyum Khan has lauded the condition of showing the national identity card by the electorates as proof of their identification during voting process in AJK polls.
Talking to APP on telephone on late Wednesday, Sardar Qayyum said that the condition of producing photocopy of the National Identity Card by the voters, holding original card at the time of polling, should be waived off.
He continued that there should also be the facility of producing any substitute document by the voters, showing his or her identity in case they do not have the national identity so that no any eligible registered voter was deprived of his/her right of franchise in the elections.
Sardar Qayyum also lauded the AJK election commission's decision of establishing each polling station only for up to 500 voters. To a question about formation of a splinter group in the name of Muslim Conference (Haqeeqi), Sardar Qayyum said that the MC's parliamentary board nominated the party candidates purely on merit.
He said that the new faces from amongst the party ranks should also be given the opportunity to participate in the elections and serve the people after having been elected in the polls.
