KESC appeals consumers to save electricity

Karachi Electricity Supply Company spokesman Syed Sultan Hussain on Thursday appealed to consumers to switch off at least one 100 watts bulb as it can save 200 megawatts electricity daily.
Talking with a private TV channel, the spokesman said KESC has saved about 75 to 90 megawatts of electricity through its decision to close down shops by Maghrib (evening). To a question he said, currently the city was facing shortage of electricity.
He said, during current year consumption of electricity has increased about 250 mw. The spokesman added that when project of Hubco started and it was decided that Karachi would get 1000-MG supply of electricity from it but due to some problems it was not possible. To a question he said, presently Wapda is supplying 600 MW electricity to KESC.
