Farmers criticise toll tax

Farmers Action Committee have expressed grave concern over the imposition of Toll Tax on various roads imposed by the City District Government and announced that villagers of more than one hundred villages will stage protest and sit in front of offices of City District Government on June 17.
Addressing a protest demonstration at Millat road, the leaders of Farmers Action Committee Shahbaz Ahmad Kissana President, Union Council Nazim Rana Moon, Umer Hayat, Basera, Ali Akbar, Gujjar President Transporter Group, Rana Yaqoob of Kissan Board, Khushi Mohammad and others stated that the so-called farmers friendly policy and Federal Budget is yielding negative impact over the livelihood earning in rural areas and widening the gulf between urban and rural areas Earlier, residents of Millat Road and its adjoining villages staged a demonstration and blocked the traffic in protest against the imposition of toll on main roads of their area. Carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the toll.
Protesters marched through various roads and demanded that the Punjab government should withdraw toll from three major roads in the district. Owing to the road blockade, traffic leading to about 50 villages was disrupted for about a couple of hours.
