Despite instructions by higher authorities such as Prime Minister, Federal Minister for Water and Power to KESC, unannounced loadshedding is continuing and the citizens are facing great difficulties.
KESC authorities expressed that load-shedding will continue for an indefinite period due to great demand and supply and power demand is increasing by 7% every year.
The position will become satisfactory after two years. In order to save power the Sindh Government has ordered that all shopping centres would be closed at 8.00 pm sharp.
The Chief Minister has directed that the Industrialists should introduce substitute holiday arrangement in place of Sunday. It has been observed that the staff of banks/financial institutions, insurance companies, are forcefully detained after office hours. For a few departments, full air-conditioning plant, lights and other electronic equipments are functioning in the entire offices.
I would, therefore, propose another option that two holidays may be instituted in a week instead but time should be increased in all government and semi-government institutions, banks and financial institutions and private organisations. In addition to this late hour/sitting may be prohibited except where it is very necessary because it is noted that the staff is detained by the employers unnecessarily in the evening when power supply demand has gone up. Such practice is not proper and it should be discouraged, otherwise the citizens would suffer.
The President and Prime Minister should consider the proposal and pass necessary orders if they deem it proper and appropriate in the interest of the public.
