Firmer trend was seen in both interbank and open markets on Saturday, dealers said. In the interbank market, the rupee held on to its overnight levels versus dollar at 60.20 and 60.22 for buying and selling, respectively, they said.
However, the dollar managed to gain modestly versus major currencies of the world after positive consumer sentiment data, dealers said.

According currency dealers, after observing up and down fluctuations, the dollar price ended at Rs 60.30 as against its past day's closing of Rs 60.50 on the buying side. However, on the selling counter, dollars price stayed intact to its overnight closing of Rs 60.60. The dealers said there was no significant change in demand and supply of dollar during the day.
According the dealers, Pound sterling strengthened its value against the local currency and changed to Rs 111.70 (buying) and Rs 112.00 (selling) from overnight Rs 111.50 and Rs 111.60, respectively.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.35 (buying) and Rs 60.45 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 60.35 (buying) and Rs 60.45 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 111.50 (buying) and Rs 111.60 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not witness any further change in the second session and closed at Rs 111.50 (buying) and Rs 111.60 (selling).
