Punjab government in order to generate electricity from canal water source is giving a final shape to comprehensive plan made by it in this regard. This was stated by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a meeting with Hungarian Ambassador Bala Fazekas here on Sunday.
The Chief Minister said that in order to generate electricity from canal source, 48 places had been pinpointed for construction of hydel stations. He said that relations between Hungary and Pakistan were exemplary and there was rich possibility of co-operation between them on hydel electricity production and other projects.
The Chief Minister further told the Ambassador that incurring Rs 300 million a pilot project to generate electricity at Mandi Bhaudin had been established. He disclosed that 3.7 megawatt electricity would be generated from the project.
Hungarian Ambassador said that enjoying good friendly relations, technical co-operation between both the countries was taking place.
