Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday said that growth with dignity and maximum relief for the common man were the two main objectives of the government which are fully ensured by the budget.
The Prime Minister made these remarks while talking to a group of MNAs led by PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain which met him at his chamber in the Parliament House.
The PM said that the present government has the honour of breaking the begging bowl which was made possible by the far-reaching and multifaceted reforms introduced in the last seven years
Shaukat Aziz said that the loans taken by the government now were for development, as was the practice all over the world, and not for the purpose of consumption as was the case before the President Pervez Musharraf assumed the charge of government. Today our economy is strong enough to enable the government to refuse the loan offered by the IMF, he added.
The Prime Minister said the budget also provides an unprecedented relief package with a record subsidy of over Rs 100 billion to provide relief to the common man.
