PML accepts speaker's ruling: Arbab

23 Jun, 2006

Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulan Rahim said on Thursday that his party accepts the ruling given by Speaker Sindh Assembly Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah on Wednesday's ugly incident in the Assembly.
In a statement the chief minister said that Speaker is the custodian of the Assembly and he and his party bow their heads before his decision. He said the opposition too should accept his decision.
He said as far as MPA Eshwar Lal is concerned, he committed a wrong act, which is regrettable to us, but the way the opposition reacted is condemnable. He described this incident as worst ever in the history of this Assembly in which four PPP MPAs breached its sanctity by beating a member inside the House.
He recalled an incident in which a Deputy Speaker in the East Pakistan Assembly was killed in the House. The chief minister said that Eshwar Lal is a nominated MPA, but those who have been elected to the Assembly by their electorates, should not have breached the privilege of the House.
