Punjab Emergency and Ambulance Service-1122 (PEAS-1122), a component of Planning and Development Department, has provided first aid service to as many as 2,245 persons while 20,69 people were shifted to hospitals during the month of May.
Director General PEAS, Dr Rizwan Naseer said here on Thursday that at present they have 14 ambulances on two rescue vehicles with the trained manpower of 250 persons. This service was started in October 2004 from Lahore, which now has been extended to other cities including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Murree, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Sialkot. He said that from the day first up to now, this service received as many as 3,182,600 phone calls out of which 1,424,698 were dropped calls, 1,728,830 were information-seeking calls and 914 were fake emergency calls. "We lodged complaints to concerned telephone companies against fake callers, and the companies stopped the obnoxious callers service", Dr Rizwan said.
