The NWFP Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution unanimously urging the federal government to shelve the proposed planning regarding financial autonomy to power supply companies, including Pesco, as it would adversely affect the rights of employees.
The resolution moved by parliamentary leader of ANP Bashir Ahmed Bilour was supported by the entire house when it was put to vote.
The resolution states that the federal government has made a plan to give financial autonomy to all the electricity supply companies, including Pesco. The plan if implemented would put rights of the employees at stake besides affecting adversely the payment of net hydel profit to the NWFP.
The house also adopted a resolution moved by Parliamentary leader of PPP(P) Abdul Akbar Khan unanimously urging the federal government not to interfere in the affairs of NWFP Textbook Board, which is a provincial subject and let it be allowed to function independently. The chair put off proceedings of the house till Friday morning at 9.30 am.
