Sale of Railways land being probed: Rashid

Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid has said investigations into the matter pertaining to sale of Pakistan Railway's properties are underway, and if any irregularity is noticed, it would be referred to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
While addressing a press conference here on Friday, Rashid made it clear that he would not spare any railway officials if found guilty of irregularity in the sale of railways' property. He also warned railway caterers to improve the quality of food otherwise he would cancel all contracts from the next year. He said the PR was taking various steps to facilitate passengers and from next year, 14 freight trains would start operation.
Announcing the new refund policy, he said 50 percent fare would be returned in case of train departure, while 75 percent refund would be made within 24 hours before the train departure. He said railways divisional superintendents had been empowered to refund the amount in such cases, adding that now all railway employees would withdraw their salaries through banks.
