The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has dismissed from services four tax officials following unauthorised absence from duty. The officials removed from services are Dr Amjad Nazir Chaudhry (BS-18), Customs and Excise Group; Ms Asma Roohi Shah, DCIT (BS-18).
Northern Region, Islamabad; Moeed Hassan Pirzada, Deputy Collector, Collectorate of Customs, Peshawar; and Syed Haider Ali Shah, Computer Programmer (BS-17), CBR (HQ), Islamabad.
The Board on Saturday issued four notifications to implement the decision under 'Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance 2000'. Disciplinary proceedings against these officials were initiated under the Ordinance on account of their unauthorised absence from duty. The Board dispensed with the enquiry proceedings in terms of Rule-5 (4) of the Ordinance and issued show-cause notices to them.
The CBR Chairman, after examining the entire record of these cases, imposed major penalty of 'Dismissal from Government Service' upon these officials under Section 3 of Removal from Service Ordinance. These officials shall have the right to appeal to the appellate authority under the Ordinance, within a period of 15 days from the date of communication of this notification.
The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has promoted eight officials of Income Tax Group from BS-20 to BS-21 with immediate effect. According to a notification issued on Saturday.
The following BS-20 officers of Income Tax Group have been promoted to BS-21: Khawar Khurshid Butt, Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT), Zone B, Lahore; Muhammad Istata Ali, Chief, DTO, CBR, Islamabad; Masood Ali Jamshed, CIT, Companies-I, Eastern Region, Lahore; Liaquat Ali Khan CIT (Appeals), Peshawar; Muhammad Faiyyaz Khan, Chief, (DTP), CBR, Islamabad; Liaquat Ali Chaudhry Director, NAB, Islamabad; Shahid Azam Khan, Director, Dte of Inspection (DT), Regional Office, Karachi; and Nazir Ahmad, CIT, Medium Taxpayer Unit (MTU), Rawalpindi.
