CDC meeting discusses financial sector reforms

The theme of the 5th Co-ordination and Dialogue Committee (CDC) meeting held recently was 'Financial Sector Reforms.' The meeting was jointly chaired by Mumtaz Malik (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance and the meeting was attended by invitees including government institutions.
Donor groups, academic circles and industry followed by open discussions on government policies and their experiences in the sectors concerned.
Thorsten Bargfrede, Deputy head of operations at the European Commission Delegation in Islamabad explained the main objectives of the CDC and said this forum was also an opportunity for the EC to interact with stakeholders and seek their feedback for better allocation of resources.
Ashraf Khan Director, State Bank of Pakistan and Sultan Tiwana, General Manager Business Development Services, SMEDA presented their views on the topic. The area of Financial Sector Reforms has been receiving attention directly from the Government of Pakistan for some years now. Pakistan's financial sector has undergone major overhauling with assistance from various international bodies including the Asian Development Bank through its SME Sector Development Programme.-PR
