Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Saturday said that a medical college would be established at Mirpurkhas. He said Rs 500 million has been allocated for the establishment of medical college in Mirpurkhas. This, the chief minister added, would benefit the people of Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Sanghar and Umerkot districts.
He said the medical college would be set up in accordance with the comprehensive planning keeping in view the future needs. Arbab said after finding an appropriate piece of land, the construction of the medical college would be initiated. During the visit to Mirpurkhas he visited the Nursing School and the Cardiovascular Department of Civil Hospital. It was pointed out that the building of the Nursing School, which was constructed in the year 1999 was not in a good shape.
The Chief Minister expressed annoyance at the defective construction work and ordered an inquiry. He directed that action be initiated against the contractor concerned for using sub-standard material for the construction of the building. He directed the Civil Surgeon and doctors to ensure treatment of the poor and provision of medicines.
