More than Rs 400 million budget of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) for the fiscal year 2006-07 was passed at a meeting of its board of governors, which met here on Sunday under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Professor Dr Sayid Nazir Ahmed.
The meeting also approved the recommendation of Academic Council and the Board of Advance Studies whereby the university will introduce PhD programme in electronic engineering.
It will also start MS degree programme in Civil and Bio-Medical Engineering. Salient features of the 2006-07 budget include an increase in the funds for scholarships from Rs 20 million to Rs 21 million whereas Rs 1.5 million have been earmarked for research works.
