Singapore bunker prices rose on Monday as the premium to fuel oil cargo values rose to abbout $5 a tonne, traders said. Prices for 380-centistoke (cst) bunker fuel were pegged at $319-$321 a tonne, up $2 from Friday's Asian close, with the differential to fuel oil at a premium of $5.00 a tonne, up from $2.25 a day ago.
"Not many sellers can supply on-specification July-delivery cargoes as two large independents are out of the market. There's a shortfall in supplies and sellers are scrambling to meet the orders," said a Singapore-based bunker trader.
"Also, the blending issue that has dogged the market for much of last week is still a problem. So there's a quite bit of short-term supply tightness."
