Textile sector team to meet Prime Minister on June 29

A delegation of the textile sector led by Chairman Cost of Doing Business Committee Zubair Motiwala will meet Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz on June 29,2006 to discuss issues related to textile sector in Islamabad. The delegation will discuss textile package and cost of doing business in the country.
The delegation will emphasise that the gas tariff should be frizzed to present level and the proposed 22 percent increase in gas tariff from July 1,2006 be withdrawn.
Taking to Business Recorder Zubair Motiwala said that the delegation would also discuss issue of high rates of banking financing. The delegation would also propose preparing a textile vision 2014 to boost the textile sector, create conducive atmosphere, create export surplus, employment generation, gas, power and other utilities tariffs etc.
A meeting of the textile sector delegation led by Zubair Motiwala was held with Chairman Central Board of Revenue (CBR) Abdullah Yousuf on Monday at federation house and issues related to textile package come under discussion. Abdullah Yousuf said that he could not examine the textile package in detail due to is precious engagement in federal budget 2006-07.
He assured the delegation that now the national assembly has approved the budget and he has time to go through proposed textile package in detail. Abdullah Yousuf informed the delegation that both the main issues gas prices and banking financing rates are not related to his jurisdiction. However, he assured that he would take-up the matter with relevant authorities to resolve the issue.
He advised the delegation to give practicable suggestion to reduce the cost of doing business in the country. He assured the delegation that anomalies in the budget would be ratified.
