No compromise with terrorists: Awais

Governor Balochistan, Awais Ahmed Ghani on Wednesday categorically declared that the government would not come into terms with those who have adopted violence and are involved in terrorism.
In a brief chat with newsmen soon after the conclusion of the first session of a seminar on 'Economic Development of Balochistan and Its Over Impact on the Country' here on Wednesday, he said, he was quoted out of context by a section of the press about government's willingness to talk to Nawab Bugti.
Earlier, speaking as chief guest at the seminar, the Governor said there could be no compromise with the terrorists. He said law and order is a pre-requisite for smooth running of the development activities in the province and the government is taking all measures to ensure peaceful and conducive atmosphere for the investors.
He said the government has controlled the situation to a great extent and the remaining areas would also be normalised soon. He said many of them have realised their mistakes and have given up arms.
The Governor said it is advised to the remaining elements to shun violence, destroy their arms and follow their comrades who had laid down their arms and adopted to live peaceful life. This is the only choice for them, which is in the interest of all. He said people are with the government and support its development policy.
The Governor said, "We have to overcome our weaknesses within and pay our full attention to improve law and order.
Referring to development activities in the province he said after functioning of the Gwadar port and its subsequent linkage with the Central Asian states by rail and road the province would become the hub of investment and industrial development to the ultimate benefit of the people.
He also mentioned recently set up marble city in Lasbella district where 47 marble industrial units are being set up that would increase the revenue for the province to 12 times.
Regarding Rikodek Copper project in Chagai district, the Governor said three international companies had entered into joint venture with 25 percent share of the province besides payment of royalty. The copper mine would prove the fifty or sixty largest such mine in the entire world.
Rs 2 billion are being allocated for development of trickle and sprinkle irrigation system in the province to save water and increase the cultivated area three to four times.
He said new custom posts have been opened on Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran border to discourage smuggling and promote bilateral trade to the benefit of the local people.
Governor, Awais Ghani said that the Federal Government is spending Rs 140 billion on different mega projects while more such projects are in the pipeline, which would increase the total outlay to Rs 150 billion.
He said development of Gwadar port and construction of coastal highway has already started paying dividend to the area people where new fishing boats are seen and the people have speedy means of travel and transportation to Karachi. Earlier, speaking on the occasion the provincial Home Minister, Shoaib Nosherwani said the Gwadar port has already brought Balochistan in limelight at international level.
He deplored that the former rulers did not pay due attention to education and development of infrastructure in the province instead, they returned experienced teachers to Punjab and pit Baloch versus Pashtoon to advance their petty interest and keep their people ignorant. He said the opponent of Gwadar port first demanded its construction.
Shoaib Nosherwani said, presently 34 percent of the NHA fund is being spent in the province on various highway projects. He said it is wrong to hold the Centre for backwardness of the province rather it was the -former leadership that kept it undeveloped.
