Insurance companies urged to come forward for social welfare

The insurance companies can play a vital role in the provision of the welfare measures for the common man. The government initiative and efforts at improving the lot of poor people can only succeed if the government and insurance companies go hand in hand, said Dr Murtaza Mughal, Country Manager, United Insurance Company Limited.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday he said this while speaking at the award ceremony for the employees of the year. Like every developed country, the insurance sector is a basic provider of welfare facilities as coverage to various risk exposures. This is simply not possible for a government to provide or arrange all-around package of facilities for needy people. The government role is essentially that of a facilitator, supervisor and regulator.-PR
