The decision of the Prime Minister to put the income tax returns of the entire sugar mills that have made unprecedented profit of billions at the cost of hapless citizens, to audit, is a welcome step (refer news of June 23).
This way the defiant cartel will at least be made to pay income tax on their enormous profits provided such step does not succumb to pressure like the one applied during the enquiry initiation by the NAB.
