US stocks were little changed on Wednesday, with investors wary of bidding stocks up before the start of a Federal Reserve meeting that could result in a signal that interest rates will keep rising.
Energy shares advanced, led by Exxon Mobil Corp, as crude prices topped $72. Shares of Exxon, the world's biggest publicly traded oil company, rose nearly 2 percent to $60.59 on the New York Stock Exchange.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 2.25 points, or 0.02 percent, at 10,922.49. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 1.09 points, or 0.09 percent, at 1,240.29. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 3.59 points, or 0.17 percent, at 2,096.66.
