About a year ago, I visited the Adult Blind Centre in Soldier Bazaar. I met the honorary general secretary, Dr Ayesha Usman who was kind enough to take me around the premises of the ABC. I was sad to see that the centre was in a dismal condition.
I also talked with some of the blind boys who had come to the centre from areas like Landhi and Korangi. I was disappointed to know that a few bureaucrats and their supporters were preventing progress and new development at the centre.
On 24th June (2006), apparently were and fair elections were held at the centre and some new faces elected to the executive committee of the centre. It is to be hoped that now there will be much needed improvement at the Adult Blind Centre.
