Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade climbed nearly 3 percent early on Friday on a bullish acreage report from the USDA and on weather concerns, traders said.
Surging gold markets and end-of-the-quarter buying from the investment fund sector also helped boost corn prices to two-week highs, they said.
At 11:32 am CDT (1632 GMT), CBOT corn was up 3/4 to 6-1/4 cents per bushel, with July up 6 at $2.34-1/2 per bushel. New-crop December was up 6-1/2 at $2.61.
