04 Jul, 2006

President General Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan and the United States are long-standing friends and allies in the cause of peace, stability and development.
"Our relationship continues to flourish to the mutual benefit of our two nations and serves as a factor of stability at the regional and international levels. I have no doubt that our friendly and co-operative ties would deepen even further the years ahead," the President said in his message to President Gorge Bush on the US Independence Day falling on Tuesday.
General Musharraf said that the affirmation of the Pakistan-US strategic partnership during his Islamabad visit this March had furthered Pakistan progress towards a broad-based, long-term and sustainable relationship.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has also greeted President Gorge Bush on the US Independence Day and said that the abiding relationship between Pakistan and the United States is based on shared perceptions and mutuality of interests. "It continues to make an enormous contribution to regional and international peace and security," he said.
The prime minister said: "We are confident that the ties between Pakistan and the US would continue to broaden and deepen as part of a such strong, stable and enduring relationship that we both seek."
