Bomb disposal squad to be deployed at Parliament House

The government on Wednesday decided to enhance security measures at the Parliament House which will see deployment of bomb disposal squad to check all goods being brought into the premises.
The decision to reinforce the security was taken at the National Assembly's Standing Committee on House and Library which approved the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the security of the Parliament House and Parliament Lodges.
According to new SOP, security staff will be increased and walk through gates at all the main entrances and close circuit cameras at various points in the Parliament House and Parliament Lodges would be installed.
The bomb disposal squad, to be deployed by AIG Special Branch, will ensure security clearance of all the equipment's and goods coming in the premises of the Parliament House. The committee meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker NA, Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob.
The committee thoroughly deliberated over the SOP, submitted by the SSP Capital Security Police, and, unanimously approved it. The members of the committee were of the view that the strict security of the Parliament House and Parliament Lodges the (SOP) was imperative and the Islamabad Police may be given free hand for its implementation.
The committee directed Islamabad Police to beef up security of the Parliament House and Parliament Lodges and increase its present strength at both the places.
