The Supreme Court of Pakistan hosted a reception for the diplomatic corps, here on Friday. Some 63 foreign diplomats including ambassadors, deputy chief missions, charge de affairs participated.
The reception was held to inform the diplomats about the forthcoming event namely International Judicial Conference, organised by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in which the Chief Justices of the Superior Courts from across the world have been invited.
Besides, prominent jurists from foreign countries and local jurists as well as intellectuals including serving and retired Judges, members of the Bars, academia and media have been invited.
Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Chief Justice of Pakistan in his welcome address informed the diplomats about the programmes and activities of the International Judicial Conference.
He added that theme of the conference is 'justice for all' and important topical issues will be addressed in the conference.
The purpose is to share knowledge and learn from one another so as to improve the system of dispensation of justice and provide relief to the aggrieved persons.
The Chief Justice said that the Conference would also demonstrate that there is conducive environment in Pakistan for business and investment and other ongoing economic project.
Amongst others, reception was attended by Judges of the Supreme Court and senior officers from the ministry of foreign affairs.
