14 years fixed as minimum workers age

Pakistan has fixed the minimum age of workers in different non-hazardous occupations to 14 years, after the ratification of Convention 138.
With the ratification Pakistan has become the second country in South Asia and among a handful in the entire Asia-Pacific region which have ratified ILO's all eight core Conventions relating to freedom of association, collective bargaining, child and bonded labour and elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
While receiving the instrument Director General of ILO, Juan Somavia praised Pakistan for being once again a leader in the region in this regard.
