ASOCIO members keen to invest in software industry

Delegates from India, Nepal, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore were part of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) delegation that visited Pakistan at a Dinner Boat Cruise, hosted by Systems Limited.
At this occasion, Lucas Lim, Secretary General of ASOCIO, stated, "After the wonderful time that everyone has shown us in Pakistan, we can't wait to come back again very soon. After seeing the large number of fast growing companies in the country we are seriously considering investing in new technologies and helping the industry to flourish."
He also added that the software industry of Pakistan was one of the fastest growing in the region and had immense potential to expand and grow. By looking from an investment point of view we see a huge opportunity in the introduction and development of high quality, lower priced computer technologies.
Talking about ASOCIO he said that it is a group of computing industry associations from Asian-Oceania region. Established in 1984,their aim to promote, encourage and foster relationships and trade between their members, and to develop the computing industry in the region. Presently, ASOCIO represents the interests of 27 economies, comprising 20 members from Japan, Australia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. ASOCIO's members account for more than 10,000
ICT companies in the region and represent ICT revenues of approximately dollar 200 billion. At the conclusion of the cruise, Ashraf Kapadia, Managing Director of Systems Limited, stated, "I feel honoured that the members of ASOCIO were able to join us on this cruise We have all learned a great deal from our interactions and have forged relationships for future business and investment in Pakistan."
Ashraf Kapadia also stated that the dinner boat cruise was held for the purpose of attracting foreign investment and for enhancing business relations within the software industry. With the unprecedented growth of the software industry within the region it is very encouraging to see different members of international
organisations come together at one forum to discuss the future of the industry and also to have an enjoyable cruise at the same time.
During their visit the ASOCIO delegation also met with the Governor of Sindh and senior government officials and discussed the current status of the Pakistan software industry and the investment potential.
