Governing Body of Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (Sessi) on Friday approved its Rs 1015.063 million budget for 2006-07 showing a surplus of Rs 66.241 million.
The budget was presented by Commissioner Sessi Rasool Bux Phulpoto in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister Labour, Industries, Muhammad Adil Siddiqui at SESSI head office here.
In his presidential remarks the minister, who is also the Chairman of Sessi's Governing Body, appreciated the pace of progress achieved by the institution. He observed that social security contribution has been consistently increasing along with number of secured workers.
However, he called for further increase in the number of secured workers to 400,000 during the current financial year. He also appreciated the efforts of Commissioner Sessi Rasool Bux Phulpoto and his team for achieving the targets.
Members Governing Body, Sheikh Manzar Alam, Qamoos Gul Khattak, Mirza Baqar Hussain were appreciative of the budget allocations and observed that social security scheme has proved more effective during recent period.
Earlier, highlighting the budget's salient features, Rasool Bux Phulpoto said the parameters on which budget is based was the realisation that this institution is primarily to provide maximum benefits to secured workers and their dependants.
