Construction of bridge over River Ravi approved

Planning and Development Board Punjab, has approved a revised scheme of construction of bridge over River Ravi at Syedwala Pattan, district Okara, sanctioning Rs 675.132 million to prepare its feasibility report.
The spokesman of P&D board informed the media that President Pervez Musharraf during his visit to Okara in 2005 had announced the construction of the bridge to meet the demand of the public of the area.
It was further informed that the proposed bridge is located at village Syedwala Pattan on Syedwala-Jaranwala Road. It is 35-km down stream of Balloki Headworks and 32-km upstream of Mari Pattan Bridge on River Ravi. District Okara falls on left while Sheikhupura on right bank of the river. To connect the proposed bridge with Jaranwala and Okara, 3.5-km approach road and widening of 19.6-km would be needed and therefore has been made a part of the scheme.
